“It is not the most intellectual of the species that survives, it is not the strongest; …it is the one most able to adapt to its changing environment.”

Prepare for Change

Did you know?

Change is good. Whether it is personal or professional change, to thrive in our 21st century students must understand the dynamics of change and develop an open, optimistic and proactive attitude toward it.  In a world where jobs can be scarce and short-lived, students/employees must realize that to stay competitive, they need a career strategy that challenges them to continually learn and improve their skills and knowledge. When students learn to expect, embrace and plan for change they can take advantage of the ever-shifting landscape and make the most of new opportunities. Get your students to focus on their ability to handle change with this quick and easy activity.

Do this…

  • Ask questions about change…
What big changes have you seen in the world in the last 5 years?
How do you think change will impact your career?
  • View video.
  • Distribute Student Activity (in fillable, pdf form), review and complete.
  • Discuss results of students’ Change quiz.
  • Share response to question: What’s the most positive change you’ve ever made?
